OverviewThis week was very eventful, between Halloween, stuffing our pillows, going out to the garden, and starting our narratives, we've been busy! We dove deeper this week into studying the salmon migration. We talked about why salmon migrate, where they go, what it looks like, and the obstacles that salmon face. MathIn first grade math we are continuing to solidify our number sense by practicing adding and subtracting using a couple key strategies: counting on from a number, and using doubles to help quickly add or recognize numbers. Here are a few of the games we have been learning to help practice those strategies. Some can be adapted to do at home if you have dice or dominoes. These may look like simple designs, but they are so much more. These students first had to interpret a graph to determine how many of each shape they could use in their creation. They then also had to know what each shape was called, then create a closed shape. This was a challenging task for the class, these girls persevered and made it through all the steps! VolunteeringIf you are interested in volunteering, I can always use help! Respond below or email me if you are interested in one of the following: Take home: Label files with all of student's names.
